
Dr Caroline Fertleman
Dr Caroline Fertleman has been a Consultant Paediatrician at the Whittington Hospital & an Honorary Senior Lecturer, University College London Medical School for 10 years. She is the course co-director for the onlyiBSc in Paediatrics and Child Health in the UK and is the UCL medical school site sub-dean for the Whittington Campus. Caroline has always been deeply involved in teaching and is a fellow of the Academy of Medical Education and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She completed her research on molecular genetic analysis of paroxysmal extreme pain disorder but her current research interests are within the fields of Child Protection, Communication Skills and Medical Education.
Caroline has also authored seven books for the lay public on babies, toddlers and potty training and three textbooks including one for paediatric foundation doctors which won the paediatric prize in the BMA book awards 2015 and two others on child protection and patient journeys. She has won numerous awards for teaching. She has a lawyer husband, three adolescents, two itinerant cats, two rescue dogs and a manageable stash of yarn for knitting.
